Agape Adoptions US Infant Program

US Infant Program

Agape Adoptions is in need of Adoptive families for newborn infants. Agape Adoptions has working relationships with many out of state placing agencies that have more birth parents than families. In order to complete an adoption, every family must have a completed and approved pre-placement report. In order to be matched with a birthmother, every family must have a completed family portfolio. We are only able to work with adoptive families who reside in the state of Washington.

Who can adopt an infant from Agape's US Infant Domestic Program?

  • Couples married at least one year

  • Single applicants

  • Washington State family

  • Applicants must be age 25–45 (because birth parents chose the family who will parent their child, applicants who are older than 45 may wait longer than those who are younger. This is out of the control of AGAPE and the placing agency).

  • Be in good physical, emotional, and mental health, and able to parent a child.

  • Have established and maintained a stable home life for at least two years.

  • Have a complete and current pre-placement report that meets state licensing requirements for domestic adoption

  • Family requirements: Must be willing to meet a birthmother and send annual pictures for 18 years, accept a child of either gender and take your baby from hospital as a legal risk.

Who are the Children?

Newborn to three years old; Caucasian, Hispanic, African-American, Bi-racial and mixed race. The babies available for adoption are typically newborn. Most of these children are African- American or Hispanic and some are biracial or multiracial. Parents can request gender, however in most cases, the gender of the child is not known.

Adoption process for Agape's US Infant Domestic Program

Once you’ve submitted your application and joined our US Infant Program, you’ll complete your pre-placement report. JoAnn Vesper, MSW, LICSW is our in house social worker who will complete your pre-placement report. Next, you’ll create a written family profile with photographs to introduce yourself to a birth family. Agape Adoptions has a network of placing agencies with different needs. We will present your profile to the agency that we know has the best fit for your family. Using the information in the family profiles, birth parents or their placement agency will select you as an adoptive family, usually before the baby is born. After the birth, you’ll travel to the infant’s birth state to pick him or her up. We ask you to accept some degree of openness, which means sending non-identifying photos and letters and meeting the birth parents at the time of placement, if they want to meet you.

Waiting time

After approval of your pre-placement report, it usually takes 3–11 months for an agency or birth mother to select you as a match. Agape Adoptions does not directly match infants and adoptive parents.

Travel

5–10 days depending on where the infant is born. We will provide as much advanced notice as possible, however often times we have only the baby’s due date.

Costs

Costs will vary between $20,000-$30,000 depending on a legal fees for terminating parental rights. Please contact us directly for more detailed information regarding fees.
